Democrats Make Mockery of Delegate Vote

In case you missed it, the Democrats called for a vote at their national convention, to reinstate language proclaiming Jerusalem as “Israel’s undivided capital,” and to reinstate references to God in the text of the party platform. The motion had to be voted on by a two-thirds majority of the delegates for passage, but it became quite clear, after several vote calls by LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, that a major majority did not want the platform changed.

After looking around confused as what to do a woman came out and advised the mayor to “Just keep going, they’re going to do what they are going to do.” Villaraigosa then proclaimed, “in the opinion of the chair, two-thirds have voted in the affirmative,” while boos rained down on his head from the crowd. As it turns out the mayor was reading from a teleprompter that had already predetermined the two-thirds majority needed for the passage of the motion. The whole vote call was essentially a sham that inadvertently exposed how little regard party leaders actually have for their delegates.
